Igor Mitoraj był jednym z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych współczesnych rzeźbiarzy. Jego monumentalne, fragmentaryczne rzeźby rozsiane są po całym świecie — zdobią miejskie place, parki, kampusy uniwersytetów i inne przestrzenie publiczne.

Jego prace nawiązują do antyku — kanonu piękna w kulturze — ale są niekompletne, okaleczone. Pokazują kruchość ludzkiego ciała, są kontemplacją przemijania i śmierci. Mitoraj uważał, że "piękno musi mieć w sobie rysę, ślad zniszczenia, ból istnienia."

Praca, którą dziś prezentuję, zatytułowana "Mitoraj", została wykonana w technice solar plate. To moje spojrzenie na rzeźby Igora Mitoraja.
Niektórzy uważają, że rzezbiarz tworzył na granicy kiczu — ja lubię jego twórczość, jego poszukiwanie piękna w kruchości i przemijaniu. Pomimo monumentalnej skali jego dzieł, jest w nich jakaś intymność i samotnosc, która mnie wzrusza.

"I sculpt incomplete bodies because our memory is just like that — fragmentary, like dreams and recollections." Igor Mitoraj

Igor Mitoraj, Polish artist, was one of the most recognisable contemporary sculptors. His monumental, fragmented sculptures are scattered across the world — adorning city squares, parks, university campuses, and other public spaces.

His work draws on the art of antiquity — the cultural canon of beauty — yet his figures are incomplete, wounded. They reveal the fragility of the human body and contemplate transience and death. Mitoraj believed that "beauty must bear a flaw, a trace of destruction, the pain of existence."

The piece I'm sharing today, titled "Mitoraj", was made using the solar plate technique. It's my personal take on Igor Mitoraj's sculptures.
Some critics say his work teeters on the edge of kitsch — I, however, appreciate his search for beauty within fragility and impermanence. Despite the monumental scale of his sculptures, there is a certain intimacy and solitude in them that moves me.
